Making Movies is a Kansas City-based Latin alternative rock band scheduled to perform at World Music Night at Momo’s on July 20. Frontman and guitarist Enrique Chi founded the group three years ago, after his previous band broke up. Orginally, Chi was backed by various friends and family, which included childhood friends Brendan Culp (drums) and Nic Kolar (bass, keys). The group formally came together after they incorporated salsa percussionist and timbalero Juan Carlos Chaurand.

Making Moves are currently on tour to support their new album, In Deo Speramus, after having finished rocking attendees at the Latin Alternative Music Conference in New York City two weeks ago. The group was also featured as part of Remezcla’s 2009 “En Tu Ciudad” tour and played with legends Aterciopelados for a short leg of their U.S. tour. Check out Making Movies’ music video for their single “La Marcha” off In Deo Speramus:

Making Movies performs at midnight. Momo’s is located at 618 West 6th St. above Katz’s Deli. Admission in $5 or $3 with student ID. 18+ welcome.
