Chico Mann, aka Marcos García, is a master of mixing Afrobeat and electronic dance or freestyle music. After Chico Mann performed live for the first time here in Austin ths past March during South By Southwest, he returns this weekend with a backing band for a big show at The Scoot Inn with Peligrosa All-Star DJs. Saturday night’s event is serving as the Austin album release show for his second album, Analog Drift, and first release on Wax Poetics Records.
In addition to the great dance music, the event includes a record fair by Friends of Sound Records, live art by b.e. STRANGE, visuals by VJ Silencio, best costume contest and a Día de los Muertos photo booth by Zappy Springs Photography. Advance tickets are on sale for $10 here, or $15 at the door. Doors are 9:00pm. The Scoot Inn is located at E. 4th and Navasota Street. This event is 21 and up.
We first got a hold of Analog Drift last year when we first discovered Chico Mann and reviewed it here. Now that it is being re-released on Wax Poetics, Analog Drift has been remastered and has a new art direction. In other words, it is better than what we heard before and we already loved it.
