Mad Decent recording artist Maluca is a staff favorite here at Austin Vida. After conquering South By Southwest and her own headlining show at The ND in June, we’re totally hooked. Her unqiue blend of house, merengue, hip hop and drum n’ bass is unlike anything else out there. Audiences outside of her native New York City first took notice at the 2009 Latin Alternative Music Conference. Her hit single, “El Tigeraso” has even made the rounds on Spanish pop and reaggaeton heavy MTV3.
To keep the buzz and her momentum going Maluca just released a new 20-track mixtape, China Food. As part of Mad Decent’s weekly mixtape giveaway, China Food takes elements of everything from playero to electronica. It is part of a biographical trilogy with the next segmennts to come in thenear future. Check out this video for one of the track’s off China Food, “Hector.”
