[9/14] Preview: PRFDance presents 17th Birthday Bombazo at Puerto Rican Folkloric Dance and Cultural Center

Bombazo Sept 14The Puerto Rican Folkloric Dance and Cultural Center (PRFDance) will be hosting a birthday Bombazo to celebrate their 17th anniversary on Sunday, September 14, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The main event will be a Bombazo, which is a Bomba dance that envelops the traditional musical styles of Puerto Rico using the relationship between the music makers and the dancers.

Bombazo will also include other events such as a special performance by PRFDance and their community youth will be presenting their multicultural talents. From the community youth performance they will chose one talent to be featured in their 12th original musical in December. They will also have events for children such as a “juego infantil,” or traditional children’s games, that will be hosted by their Coqui class which seeks to teach children Puerto Rico’s cultural traditions through these activities.

PRF Dance is a non-profit cultural center that was founded in 1997 and is affiliated with the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture for ongoing and authentic cultural programming. Their mission is to promote cultural awareness and pride through performances, cultural events, and high-quality education programs based in the folkloric performing arts.
