KLRU to host screenings and panel discussions of upcoming ‘Latino Americans’ documentary series

This month, Austin PBS affiliate KLRU celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with a range of special programs and events that celebrate the Latino experience. To kick things off, KLRU is organizing screenings of the landmark PBS film Latino Americans, a six-hour documentary featuring interviews with nearly 100 Latinos and more than 500 years of history.

Screening Dates and Locations:

* Tuesday, Sept. 10 at noon at KLRU Studio 6A – screening with the Center for Mexican American Studies at the University of Texas.  Dr. Domino Perez will join John Valadez in discussion after the film.
* Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 7:30 at the MACC – SOLD OUT
* Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 6 pm at the Wittliff Galleries at Texas State University in San Marcos.
* Monday, Sept. 16 at 7 pm at the Mabee Ballroom at the Ragsdale Student Center at St. Edward’s University in south Austin.

NOTE: The station also filmed two music specials to air along with the series, both of which will air on Sept. 26: Arts in Context with Conjunto Los Pinkys, and Vamos Al Baile with Little Joe y La Familia, Joel Guzman and Sarah Fox, and Ruben Ramos and the Mexican Revolution.
