Friday night at Ruta Maya on South Congress, attendees will get to see three very different, but very good performers in one show. The good people behind Vivo Alternativo are bringing Monterrey rock en Español group Rubik. If you missed them last November at El Sol Y La Luna, then here’s your chance, regios. One of our favorite singer-songwriters, Arthur Yoria, will be bringing his angsty-crooner style to the show. The other reason this show is a big deal is because we will get to check out the new lead singer for Los Bad Apples. Doors at are 9 p.m.; cover is $5.
Saturday night brings San Antonio’s Girl in a Coma back to town for a Brittish Invasion show at Red 7. Touring to support their latest release, Trio B.C., these lovely ladies continue to make Austin their second home. Being that they are so heavily influenced by The Smiths and Morrissey (what Latino isn’t?) it is only fit that they play a show dedicated to Brittish rock. With a slew of other great acts playing under them, it would be difficult to justify being any where else Saturday night. Advance tickets can be purchased online through Front Gate Tickets. Show starts at 9 p.m. and more information can be found here on Do512. To get you hyped up, check out our Austin Vida video if Girl In A Coma performing “Baby Boy” at Emo’s.
