The fifth and final film of the series “The Mexico of Emilio Fernandez and Gabriel Figueroa” is also considered their best work. “Pueblerina” tells the story of Aurelio, who returns to his hometown after serving a sentence for having avenged the rape of the woman he loves, Paloma, by Julio. When he returns home, he finds his mother dead and Paloma and her baby living in exile. Aurelio wants to start a new life with Paloma and forget about the past, but Julio and his brother Ramiro are not willing to leave them alone, and his community has yet to forgive him for his crime.
