[4/25] Preview: Big Squeeze Finals at Bob Bullock Museum

The Big SqueezeSaturday, Apr. 25, the Bob Bullock Museum hosts 9th Annual Big Squeeze Accordion Contest Statewide Finals and Concert, presented by Texas Folklife. The event will feature performances by some of the state’s most talented young accordion players, as well as performances by other groups, and last year’s winner.

This will be the second year to feature winners in three different accordion styles: Tejano/conjunto, polka, and zydeco. In addition to the contestants from all over Texas, conjunto legend Eva Ybarra and Zydeco master Charles Thibodeaux are also scheduled to perform.

Long story short: A fun afternoon with a sampling of different accordion styles, a glimpse of the future, and performances by the pros. Very family friendly.

The Bob Bullock Museum is located at 1800 Congress, at the corner of MLK and Congress in downtown Austin. Music starts at 1 p.m., admission is free, and all ages are welcome. Visit the Facebook event page here.
