Saturday, May 2, Austin’s own Son De Rey will be celebrating the official release of their debut album Ojos Azules at Spider House Ballroom. The event will feature a supporting performance by cumbia-fusion band Como Las Movies and an opening set from Oh Antonio + His Imaginary Friends.
The Ojos Azules album was produced and engineered by Grammy winner Fabian Hernandez, known for his work with Ruben Ramos & The Mexican Revolution, Little Joe Y La Familia and Hamilton Loomis. The album includes original music and lyrics by lead vocalist Luis Mikael and keyboardist David Moreno, along with several popular Latin covers of Los Angeles Azules’ “El Listón de Tu Pelo,” Phases’ “Yo La Veo,” and a Spanglish-cumbia version of Wham’s “Careless Whisper.”
