Tonight Phoenix-based alt-reggae trio Fayuca is making their Austin stop of their current “The Lucha Winter Tour” at Flamingo Cantina. The bill is stacked as local openers for tonight’s show include Latin reggae-ska band Los Kurados, reggae-dub bands Audic Empire and Subrosa Union.
Known for their fierce live performances and relentless touring, Fayuca blends their Latin roots and mother tongue with the ethos of reggae and the passion of progressive punk. The end result is an intimate explosion of heady, sultry, stoner rock with a Spanish twist. The group has shared the stage with Damian ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley, Nas, 311, The Dirty Heads, Authority Zero and Fishbone, but have also showcased at numerous festivals nationwide. Fayuca is signed with boutique label Fervor Records and are continuously writing, recording and releasing new material.
Since 2005, the band has had numerous career highlights including an MTV Launch of “Por Que Seguir” and multiple features on popular TV networks including FOX, CBS and Univision. Recently the group was responsible for writing the main title theme to Robert Rodriguez’s TV series, Matador.
Flamingo Cantina is located at 515 E. 6th Street. Doors open at 9 p.m. 21+ welcome. $10 cover at the door. Visit the Facebook event page here.
