Rancho Alegre Radio to Guest DJ on KOOP-FM

Tuesday, August 6, Rancho Alegre Radio will join host Ted Branson for a special Tejano and Conjunto edition of KOOP Radio’s Texas roots music program, “Under the X in Texas.” Guest DJ’s Baldomero “El Parrandero” Cuellar and Austin Vida contributor Piper LeMoine will bring a great selection of their vast catalog of Conjunto and classic Tejano music, which includes rare and out-of-print recordings no longer available.

“Under the X in Texas” is hosted by Texas music enthusiast and aficionado Ted Branson. The weekly community radio show is built around Branson’s extensive knowledge and passion for all Texas music genres from Conjunto to Western Swing. The program strongly focuses on the Lone Star State’s roots genres, with special emphasis on the originators and early influential artists.

Rancho Alegre Radio is an Austin-based non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Tejano and Conjunto music. The online music site features a playlist of nearly 2000 Tejano and Conjunto tracks, plus recorded interviews with legendary, veteran, and up-and-coming artists, an events calendar, blog, and more. The group also promotes several live music performances throughout the year and organizes the annual Rancho Alegre Conjunto Festival, which brings Conjuntos from all over Texas to the Live Music Capital of the World.

The program is scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. on KOOP Radio, 91.7 FM in Austin, and can also be heard online at koop.org and on TuneIn. Follow the event on Facebook here.
