[6/28] Preview: Yayo Castillo y Rumores and Angel y Vimana at Tejano Ranch

Friday June 28, it’s a very special Totally Tejano Friday as Tejano Ranch welcomes Yayo Castillo y Rumores and Angel y Vimana to the stage. The Austin area groups will be celebrating the release of Rumores’ latest album at the north Austin Tejano nightspot.

Rumores has been a fixture in the Austin Tejano music scene for decades, playing at countless venues, festivals, jamaicas, and private parties. Bandleader and lead vocalist Yayo Castillo is known for his strong, smooth voice and showmanship. Along with longtime band members Ignacio “Iceman” Castillo  (saxophone/vocals) and David Guzman (guitar), Rumores is a tight, talented group that always puts on a great show.

Opening for Rumores will be the up-and-coming Angel y Vimana. Led by Austin’s own Angel Gonzalez (lead vocals), the group includes seasoned personnel from all over central Texas and plays original material. Appearances at festivals, coverage in various media and strong social media strategy have helped raised the band’s profile in Tejano music, and fans are already looking forward to their first album, due out later this year.

Long story short: A who’s who of the Austin Tejano music community should be on hand to celebrate, so it should be good times with good friends celebrating one of their own and getting to know some new talent as well.

Tejano Ranch is located at 7601 North Lamar, just south of Highway 183 in north Austin. The doors open at 8 p.m. The cover charge is $10 before 9 p.m, and $12 cover after 9 p.m. 18+ are welcome.  View the Facebook event page here.
