[5/25] Preview: Grupo Inolvidable and Conjunto Romo at Texas Club Bar and Grill

Saturday night, May 25, Texas Club Bar and Grill welcomes back Conjunto Romo, along with Grupo Inolvidable. Romo, the family conjunto from Kyle, is no stranger to the Austin music scene, but Corpus Christi-based Inolvidable is still unknown to fans in the Live Music Capital.

Considered rising stars on the conjunto scene, Conjunto Romo includes father Navor Romo on bass and vocals, and sons Cedrick on accordion, JJ on drums and Noe on bajo sexto. With two band members still in high school and one recently graduated, Conjunto Romo has made great strides in establishing themselves among legendary performers and fans alike. Citing the late Jimmy Garcia of Los Garcia Bros. as a major influence, the Romos stay true to the traditional conjunto sound and have established a strong following.

Grupo Inolvidable is another up and coming group in the red-hot world of conjunto. Led by Mario Newman, the band has been laying down tracks and recording their very first album, and starting to venture outside their hometown. Their sound is high-energy conjunto with some accordion fireworks and bright harmonies between the first and second voices.

Long story short: Conjunto, conjunto, conjunto! Stacy Adams, Guayaberas, polkas, good times.

The Texas Club Bar and Grill is located on Burleson Road just south of Ben White Boulevard in southeast Austin. Doors open at 7 p.m., cover is $6, and 21+ are welcome. For more information call (512) 541-7621. Keep up with the Facebook event here.
