[4/24] Preview: Money Chicha and Sherik at Holy Mountain

Looking for Latin music this Wednesday? Look no further as Red River hot spot Holy Mountain plays host to Austin’s first and coolest chicha group, Money Chicha. Their music pays homage to the musical and cultural movement of the ’60s and ’70s found in Peru and Colombia, but with a psychedelic twist. A “super group” sideproject of sorts, members of Money Chicha also perform with Grupo Fantasma, Brownout, Ocote Soul Sounds, Echocentrics to name a few.

Playing before Money Chicha will be Seattle-based saxaphonist Sherik. While you may not be familiar with Skerik by name, you may have heard his work with Critters Buggin or Les Claypool’s Fancy Band. Sherik is basically a “sax-assasin” for hire and his list of big name artists he has performed with is longer than most could believe. Sherik performs at 10 p.m.

Holy Mountain is located at 617 E. 7th Street. Doors open at 8 p.m. 21+ are welcome. Advance tickets are $8 and can be purchased online here. Cover is $10 at the door.
