[10/31] Preview: Money Chicha w/Selena Y Los Burritos at Holy Mountain

Money Chicha Oct 31 Halloween is finally here Austin! You’ve got your slutty and/or zombie costume and you are ready to head out. If you’re looking to enjoy good Latin music away from the tourists and on-lookers on 6th Street, head over a few blocks down Red River as Holy Mountain plays hosts to a Selena tribute band and Austin’s first Chicha band. Be careful though zombies as you will want to make sure the door guy can recognize you from your I.D.

Money Chicha is Austin’s first chicha band, but with a modern twist of course. Their music pays homage to the musical and cultural movement of the ’60s and ’70s found in Peru and Colombia, but with elements of  psych-rock. A “super group” side project of sort, members of Money Chicha also perform with Grupo Fantasma, Brownout, Ocote Soul Sounds and The Echocentrics to name a few. Money Chicha peform at midnight.

Austin-based Selena tribute band Selena Y Los Burritos open the show. Those familiar with the Austin indie scene may recognize members of the band from Dikes of Holland. For you diehard Selena fans thinking about attending, understand it is a fun side-project and is not meant to be taken that seriously. Selena Y Los Burritos perform at 11 p.m.

Holy Mountain is located at 617 E 7th Street. Doors open at 9 p.m. 21+ are welcome. No cover. Visit the Facebook event page here. This event is part of the East Austin Zombie Pub Crawl.
