On Sunday, Oct. 20 at H&H Ballroom in South Austin, Tejano music fans will get a glimpse of future stars at the finale of “Canta Tejano Idol Finale,” presented by the Austin Tejano Music Coalition. Contestants from all over Texas will perform in front of three celebrity judges and a crowd full of fans, and compete for a cash prize and the opportunity to become the next Tejano music star.
Now in its third year, the competition accepted auditions online and also held auditions in Austin and various locations around the state. Judges then narrowed the field, selecting the best contestants for the finale.
The celebrity panel of judges includes Tejano music performers Austin’s own J.R. Gomez, Raphael Rodriguez of Los A-T Boyz, and Audi Castillon Portales from Fort Collins, Colorado. The show will be emceed by former celebrity judge Shelly Lares.
H&H Ballroom is located at 4404 Brandt Road, just east of I-35 and between Slaughter Lane and Old Lockhart Road in South Austin. All ages are welcome for this event and the cover charge is $5 per person.
