Xenia Rubinos brings a Latin twist to indie noise rock with Caribbean rhythms and hints of punk rock. Her powerful voice plays a dual role: creating beats from scratch and overshadowing the mix of sounds in her music with her soulful vocals. With her creative lyrics that jump from subject to subject, the Brooklyn-based musician even manages to bring her abuela into her imaginative world.

Rubinos’ latest video for “Hair Receding” off her debut album Magic Trix is just as eclectic and experimental as her music. With the permission of her grandmother Carmen to strap nine cameras to her body, the video gives a complete insight into her daily life. Despite the stares from others around, she is fastened with two feet cameras, two chest (one forward, one down), two back (left/right), two arm cameras and one on Carmen’s face. From the moment she starts getting ready for her day, not a single moment is lost as she walks to the supermarket, gets her hair done, runs errands and finally returns to her apartment to peacefully fall asleep.
