Outernational recently stopped in Austin for the Pachanga Latino Music Festival and showed us what “future rock” is all about: rock and roll without boundaries. And their message is just the same. With a focus on social injustices, particularly the current immigration issues, the New York based band lives and breathes their message. They have released a full-length album that centers on the struggles immigrants face, but they just don’t sing about it. They take action. While on tour, they protested Arizona’s anti-immigrations and education bills.
With their latest album, Todos Somos Ilegales: We Are All Illegals, devoted to the struggles immigrants face in this country, the band debuts the video to their single “Todos Somos Ilegales”. The video features Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine, Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Residente of Calle 13 and producer Thom Russo, all of whom collaborated on the album. Aside from the known collaborators, the video includes footage submitted by more than 100 fans singing and reflecting on the lyrics.
