[9/23] Preview: Timberos Del Norte at Antone’s

With Ruta Maya closing their doors and looking to relocate, there is a void in the Austin salsa scene. The good news for salseros is that other venues seem to be looking hopefully fill that void, including Antone’s. Already playing host to the monthly Latin rock series Movimiento Rockero, Antone’s is now presenting new monthly residency with Austin-based band Timberos Del Norte. According to Timberos Del Norte pianist Paul Matthews, this will take place through January.

Timberos Del Norte is composed of some of Texas’ most accomplished and award-winning musicians.  Musicians from well-known Latin dance bands have come together from all over the state to form Austin’s newest Timba bands. Timba is a popular Cuban genre that incorporates elements of  salsa, American funk, R&B and Afro-Cuban folkloric music.

Antone’s is located at 213 West 5th Street. Doors open at 8 p.m. Show starts at 9 p.m. $10 cover. All ages welcome. Advance tickets are available here. Visit the event post on Do512 here.
