(2/10) Preview: La Guerrilla at Ruta Maya

While we don’t normally think of Austin’s La Guerrilla as a reggae band, they fit very well with the genre. In fact, they can play with just about anyone due to their unique fusion of multiple genres including ska, rock, reggae and traditional South American rhythms.  Think Gogol Bordello mixed with Manu Chao. Yeah, something like that anyway.

La Guerrilla will be performing a headlining show at Ruta Maya on Friday, February 9, with Austin-based reggae bands Steady Legend and Tin Can Phone. For those of you who are familiar with or fans of La Guerrilla already, you will see a different looking band as the group has gone through some member changes. Thankfully the music is still the same and frontman Enrique Rumiche carries on with drummer Paul Joseph Loney and Zumbi on horns.  La Guerrilla perform at 12:00am.

Ruta Maya located at 3601 S. Congress Ave. Admission is $8. All ages are welcome. Parking is free. Visit the official event page on Facebook here and on Do512 here.
