(10/8) Preview: Austin Vida & Eye In The Sky showcase at The Parish

Eye In The Sky (EITS) is an Austin based music collective that aims to support and empower artists with resources to maintain a sustainable music career while providing fans an opportunity to support the artists directly. Led by musician and promoter Anthony Erickson, EITS is the perfect promotion partner for our showcase at The Parish on Saturday, Oct. 8. What a show we have for you…

Opening our showcase is the  new wave inspired indie band Vinyl Dharma. After wowing audiences in their native South Texas and nationally on MTV2, the group calls Austin home and performs regularly at our showcases.  Currently Vinyl Dharma are recording their second EP. Learn more about the band in our Austin Vida video interview here. Vinyl Dharma perform at 9:30 p.m.

Indie-psych rockers Sour Soul are coming to us all the way from Mexico City. We first came across the band at Beauty Bar on a random Tuesday night in 2010 and have been following the band ever since. Sour Soul’s music is an epic blend of psychedelic, classic rock, soul and Brit-pop backed by Latin percussion. Learn more about Sour Soul in our Austin Vida video interview here. Sour Soul perform at 10:30 p.m.

On tour with Sour Soul are San Antonio based progressive-indie band, Hydra Melody. Fans of bands like Minus the Bear, Dredg and Circa Survive take notice. Hydra Melody will be your new favorite band. They bring two singers, Latin percussion and melodic vocals together as good as anyone we’ve heard. After rocking our Free Week showcase in January, we had to bring them back. Hydra Melody perform at 11:30 p.m.

Closing the night is an Austin favorite, La Guerrilla.  There is not much that can be said about La Guerrilla that we haven’t said already. They have so much energy and are fun to watch live. Their music blends elements of South American rhythms, punk, ska and indie rock. Be ready for megaphones, violins and beatboxing when La Guerrilla take the stage at 12:30 a.m.

Listen to showcase artist Hydra Melody performing “You’re What I Do On the Weekend” below.
