Photo Recap: Western Ghost House, Ledaswan & Politics at Frank

Politics performing live at Frank.

Austin Vida’s last showcase of 2011 happened Friday, December 9,  at Frank. We ended the year with one of our regular indie showcases where we feature or present indie rock bands who have Latino members. It matters not whether the lyrics are English or Spanish, we just care about the talent. It is all part of Austin Vida’s mission to change the way people see Latino musicians and breakdown stereotypes. After all, while all U.S. born Latinos may love traditional Spanish language music of their heritage, we also love all types of music from Europe and The U.S.

Friday night Austin Vida featured two of Austin’s best and a San Antonio favorite. Ethereal-indie band Western Ghost House opened the show while San Antonio’s Ledaswan followed. Austin Vida feature artist and Ultra 8201 Label* band Politics headlined.  A good time was had by all. Austin Vida photographer Kristie Bocanegra was in attendance and captured the photos below. Be sure to check out our event schedule for our upcoming showcases on Facebook here.

Kristie Bocanegra

Kristie is a homegrown talent from Austin. She graduated from Anderson High School and is studying photojournalism at Austin Community College. She began interning for Austin Vida in the spring of 2011 and is already one of Austin’s brightest up-and-comers. Now that she has officially turned 21, watch out world.
