(8/5) Preview: Los Skarnales at Flamingo Cantina

There isn’t much that can be said about Houston’s biggest and baddest ska band, Los Skarnales.  The Latino ska collective have been around for over fifteen years and are still going strong. Here in Austin, The Skarnales have made Flamingo Cantina sort of an unofficial Austin home. The group returns to their unofficial home this Friday, August 5, for another headlining show at Flamingo Cantina with Danzonera Distortion and Los De Esta Noche.

Danzonera Distortion is from Monterrey, Mexico. Formed in 2002 by Ivan Monsivais (Amaranta, Inspector, El Gran Silencio) and Cesar Hernandez, their music is what we like to call “Latin fusion.” They fuse together elements of heavy metal with cumbia, tropical, salsa, ska, and reggae. You can download their album for free here.

San Antonio’s Los De Esta Noche will also be joining Los Skarnales on stage despite what you see on the poster (pictured left). Flamingo Cantina is located at 515 E. 6th Street. 21+ are welcome. Doors open at 9:00pm. $10 cover.  Visit the event page on Do512 here.
