(8/29) Preview: Lindi Ortega at Cactus Cafe

Lindi Ortega is a Toronto based musician and singer-songwriter. Born to an Irish mother and a Mexican father, Ortega was inspired musically at early age by watching her father’s Latin band growing up (NPR). Originally signed to Cherrytree/Interscope Records, Ortega was later released and now calls Last Gang Records home. She has performed with many well known artists including Noah and The Whale, Keane and Brandon Flowers of The Killers.

Ortega is currently on tour in support of her debut album, Little Red Boots. While her music may be found in the country or Americana sections of your favorite online or brick and mortar record stores, Ortega describes her music as “a roadside motel love affair between old school outlaws and country darlings. ” Fans of Rosie Flores, Alejandro Escovedo or even Patricia Vonne would love Ortega’s music.

Lindi Ortega performs in Austin on Monday, August 29, at Cactus Cafe. Doors open at 8:00pm, show begins at 8:30pm. Admission is $10. All ages are welcome. The Cactus Cafe is on Guadalupe Street across from the University Co-op and is located in the southwest corner of the Texas Union building. The Texas Union, at the corner of 24th and Guadalupe, is on the University of Texas campus.  Entrance to the Cactus is through the main West Mall Lobby. Advance tickets for this show can be purchased here.
