Austin Jewish Film Festival with Cine Las Americas presents Argentinean film ‘Anita’

In collaboration with the Austin Jewish Film Festival, Cine Las Americas will be presenting an Argentinean drama titled Anita as part of their Signature Series at the Alamo Drafthouse Village on Mar. 31 at 4 p.m.

Anita is a 2009 drama by Marcos Canevale from Argentina that follows a young woman named Anita who has Down syndrome and lives a good life in Buenos Aires with her mother. This happy life that Anita leads, takes a turn when the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association is bombed and she is left alone in the city.

The film is in English with Spanish subtitles. The screening will be held at the Alamo Drafthouse Village located on 2700 W. Anderson Lane. Tickets cost $10 and $8 for members. Cine Las Americas is a non-profit, multicultural organization whose mission is to promote cross-cultural understanding and growth by educating, entertaining and challenging diverse audiences through film and media arts. They have screened more than 1,200 Latino and Indigenous and have partnered with local schools to create form educational media programs to serve the minority youth.
